I have one HLK-FM225 module with the following firmware version:
FM225_V0.a8_3B
UART communication at 115200 baud works correctly, and both the Color UVC camera and IR UVC camera are detected and working.
We are using our own diagnostic software to communicate directly with the FM225 UART protocol. The module detects the face correctly and frequently reports STATE=NORMAL, with a stable face bounding box. However, the reported face pose angles are clearly abnormal even when the face and camera are almost completely stationary.
As shown in the attached UART log screenshot:
Yaw remains approximately +61° to +63°
Pitch continuously jumps between approximately +160°/+179° and -167°/-177°
The face is barely moving during these measurements
The face bounding box remains relatively stable
Enrollment eventually returns Result Code 13 – TIMEOUT
We have tested both enrollment commands:
ENROLL_SINGLE (0x1D)
ENROLL (0x13)
Both commands fail with a timeout.
We also tested the same module using the official FM22x Tool v1.7.6, and the same behavior occurs. Face enrollment and recognition cannot be completed correctly.
Therefore, the problem does not appear to be related to our UART implementation or diagnostic software.
We also tested another HLK-FM225 module using the same power supply, camera connection, host computer, UART interface, and system configuration, and that module works correctly.
This strongly suggests that the problem is specific to this FM225 module, its firmware, or its internal camera/face-pose calibration.
We also attempted to upgrade the firmware using the firmware upgrade function in FM22x Tool v1.7.6. The upgrade process starts and displays 0%, but it never progresses.
Could you please provide:
- The latest official firmware compatible with this HLK-FM225 hardware revision.
- The correct firmware upgrade procedure for the FM225.
- Confirmation of whether the abnormal Yaw/Pitch values indicate a firmware problem, camera calibration problem, or defective module.
- Information about whether the FM225 requires any factory camera/IR calibration data that may be corrupted or missing.
- A firmware recovery / bootloader upgrade procedure in case the normal FM22x Tool upgrade method remains stuck at 0%.
- If possible, the recommended FM22x Tool version for firmware FM225_V0.a8_3B and this hardware revision.
The module is powered from a stable supply and UART communication itself is reliable. Commands and responses are received correctly without apparent UART corruption.
I have attached the UART log screenshot showing the abnormal face-angle values and enrollment timeout.
If necessary, I can also provide additional UART logs, hardware photographs, module serial number, or screenshots from the FM22x Tool.
